The project of constructing our headquarters where we have now settled in was taken up by Radcliffe Construction early last year. This fantastic headquarters is the result of the combined effort of numerous people, contractors and subcontractors such as Radcliffe construction, Microcare and Business Moves Group to name a few. Since the first day of laying the foundation, to the day the keys were handed over, one individual who played a very crucial part in the completion of the project was the on-site Manager Lee Quarmby.
Lee not only carried out his important role of managing the site but inspected the work done in different areas of construction. He was the contact person for Alco throughout the 7 months of the building process. Lee also managed the numerous contractors who worked on the project at all the different stages and ensured that the finished project would be perfect. Lee along with the others who worked on the project have faced challenges that Lee is proud to have efficiently overcome. Upon talking to him about his experience at the Gooder Lane site, he commented, “The first challenge we faced when we started was laying the foundation. Finding a hard ground was a difficult task, but we eventually did, and then we started building it up from there, to this point where it looks so good and makes us very proud of the work done. You enjoy doing the work on the project when it starts to come together as planned; in addition it makes you look forward to the day of completion.”
Lee further shared his experience of seeing the site before any work had begun, “When we do something new, there is usually no memory of it since you start to make it from scratch. But in the case of Gooder Lane, there was an old building in place, and we saw what it was. In such cases, when the project is completed, there is a renovation and transformation which, from a builder’s point of view is a lot more rewarding and satisfying. We have had neighbours from the area tell us that, they did not believe the building would look anything like the blueprint and that they are amazed at the end result.”
In addition, Lee shared his experience about working with Alco Valves Group, “Radcliffe construction is a great firm to work for. Moreover, from a contractor point of view, Alco are a great firm to work with. James Stangroom, was our first contact person from Alco, it’s been so easy to work with him since the start. I should mention the subcontractors we worked with were outstanding. They made sure to complete the work in time.”
We appreciate every bit of hard work done by Lee Quarmby and thank him for being consistent and working on the project. Without Lee, the project would not have been the success that it is .We wish him the very best of luck for his future endeavours.
